Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda recently spoke on domestic violence, she cautioned women to stop provoking men – Chinda also spoke on s*xual harassment in the Nollywood industry Following the rise of voicing out issues of domestic violence in Nigerian homes, Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda has given her two cents. The mother of one was recently on a talk show where she talked on sensitive topics including women and domestic violence.
According to the 43-year-old actress, domestic violence is just like everything else in the world, there is always a cause and then a reaction. Chinda stated that she is against domestic violence but cautioned women to stop provoking their husbands and fighting men who are known to be stronger. She said: “As much as I detest all forms of violence against women and men, women should quit provoking their man by beating punches and slaps.
She went further to say women talk a lot and it could be a trigger. She said: “I’m a domestic violence [enthusiast]. I always research when I hear fresh stories about domestic violence. Half the time, it is the women. “God just gave us this running Okra mouth. Women, don’t fight with people who are stronger than you.” Domestic violence can happen to anyone as earlier reported how 55 husbands revealed getting beaten by their wives to Lagos state attorney general.
. She expressed that not many women come out to admit they grant s*xual favours for movie roles because of stigmatization. She said: “It’s a bit uncomfortable for someone to come out and say I was cornered to sleep with a producer because of a role,” she said. “They keep quiet about it because of their careers. Apart from that, the society stigmatizes these women. So you just swallow your pride. “When you are outside the shores of Africa, women are heroes for coming out to speak about s*xual abuse, but here.”
